THE ASSIGNMENT

Working in teams you will create a piece of artwork for Rock the Ball, our annual Art and Design Department open-house and art party. After the teams are established (usually three to four students) you will pick three prompts out hats organized in three categories. The prompt categories are: an aspect of the semester’s theme, a guide in your formal choices, and a guide for your art making process.

  • Your final work needs to consider all three prompts to create an original piece of art
  • You should make three studies/sketches before choosing your final idea/design.
  • The final piece can be either abstract or representational, and use any medium. It should be completed on a 12 x 12-inch piece of Bristol board, Masonite, or another sturdy (high-quality) substrate.
